Railway City Tourism will be unveiling the boxcars that were painted by 4 local artists at the end of the month. The newly transformed boxcars that are currently located at the Elgin County Railway Museum will be open for public viewing for the first time on September 28th, beginning at 9 a.m. This official unveiling will be taking place during the nation-wide Culture Days celebration, with speeches and a very special announcement being made at 4:30 p.m. in downtown St. Thomas at Moore and Talbot Street.
Each mural is unique, as Grayden Laing, Mediah, Jaclyn White, and Laura Woermke all highlighted their personal experiences and relationships with St. Thomas. These boxcars murals will act as the kick off to a city-wide street art project that is planned for St. Thomas that will include other murals and different forms of public art.
Attendees of the unveiling will get to participate in one of these art forms with a chalk art piece planned for the day of the event. Chalk street artist Will Graham will also be on hand throughout the day creating his own massive piece of art on Moore Street beginning at 9 a.m.
