A Belmont woman is facing an impaired driving charge after the St. Thomas Police say she was driving with close to twice the legal limit of alcohol in her system. The 24 year old was pulled over around 8 p.m. on St. George Street after officers suspected she may have been impaired.
The woman failed the roadside screening test and was placed under arrest. Further tests at the police station revealed that the woman had close to twice the legal limit of alcohol in her system.
A 24 year old male passenger of the vehicle was also arrested after officers say he became belligerent with them. He’s facing one count of obstructing police and breaching release conditions. Both will answer the charges at future court dates.
