The Central Elgin Fire and Rescue Service is celebrating Fire Prevention Week by hosting Open Houses at 3 of their fire stations. The open houses will be taking place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday (Oct 5) at Port Stanley Fire Station 1, Yarmouth Centre Fire Station 3, and Belmont Fire Station 4. Each station will be holding similar events including BBQ’s, demonstrations, tours of the stations and fire trucks, as well as providing fire safety education.
Fire Prevention Officer Tammy DeGraw says the Yarmouth Centre Fire Station will also have a Fire Safety Trailer on site.
DeGraw says the open houses are also a great opportunity to get young children familiar with firefighters.
DeGraw adds that Sparky the Fire Dog will also be dropping by all 3 locations to meet the kids and help them learn about fire safety. Fire Prevention Week will be taking place from October 6th to 12th.
