The Kettle Creek Conservation Authority is updating the public on the high water levels in Lake Erie and the effect they continue to have on the watershed. The conservation authority says that while the water levels continue their seasonal decline, they remain at record high levels. Recent levels indicate that they are just 2 cm higher than last year’s weekly average.
The water level still does not factor in increases from storm surges or wind driven waves.
They are asking residents on the shoreline of Lake Erie, specifically Port Stanley to be very mindful of sustained gusty southwesterly winds over 50 km/hr. Storm surges are still possible which does have the potential to cause shoreline erosion.
They ask residents to be aware of conditions around them and react accordingly.
