September is usually a busy time for most people in the community due to back to school, and it was no different for the St. Thomas Police Service’s Traffic Unit. As myFM informed you the STPS were out and about around area schools during September for their School Zone Blitz before and after school. This years blitz resulted in very little problems as only 5 parking tickets were issued, some warnings were given and only 1 person was fined for running a stop sign.
The traffic unit also focused on other certain areas of the city during September, including the Dalewood Bridge. The project was launched due to complaints from citizens, who stated that the area was a concern for speed and safety issues. Police laid 34 speeding charges in the Dalewood Bridge area in September and will continue to monitor the area going forward.
Police will also shift their focus to some other areas in the city during October, including Fifth and Chestnut and First Ave and Mandeville Road.
