The 2nd annual “The Gift of Baby Elena 5 km Walk/Run for Infant Loss” is taking place on Saturday in Pinafore Park. The event is in memory of Amanda Hamm’s daughter Elena who passed away in August of 2018 from Sudden infant death syndrome. The event is being held in Pinafore Park as Hamm would frequently walk in the park with her children.
Hamm says that naming the event “the gift of baby Elena” has meaning to them.
Hamm says that funds will be raised through registration fees and through funds raised from the silent auction and raffle items. The money raised will go towards a number of purposes including a donation in her daughter’s name to the special care nursery or for an infant transponder at the St. Thomas- Elgin General Hospital. The funds will also go towards the making of comfort boxes and the purchase of owlet heart monitors.
Registration for the event is $35 and can be done through eventbrite. The event begins at 10 a.m.
More and information about the event as well as a ticket link can be found here.
