A 30 year old London man was arrested by St. Thomas Police last night following a foot chase with officers. The incident occurred on St. Catherines Street around 11:30 p.m. after police observed stolen licence plates attached to a vehicle parked on the street. Officers attempted to take the driver into custody when he returned to the vehicle but the man fled from police. The STP were able to track the man down a short distance away where he was then taken into custody.
Once at the station the man proceeded to provide false identification to police. Officers also found 22 grams of Crystal Methamphetamine along with $500 cash on the man. In addition, bolt cutters and pry bars were found inside the mans vehicle. It was also determined that the male was wanted on warrants from a few other jurisdictions once his true identity was confirmed.
As a result of the most recent arrest, the 30 year old was charged with one count Possession of Stolen Property, one count Possession of Break and Enter Tools, one count Escape Lawful Custody, one count Resist Arrest, one count Obstruct Police, one count Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking and six counts Breach of Release Conditions. He was held by police for a court appearance.
