The Provincial Government is providing $1.47 million in funding for the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital (STEGH). Minister Jeff Yurek announced the funding at the CASO Station on Thursday afternoon (October 17).
The funding is to correct what the hospital refers as an unfair previous funding formula for medium sized hospitals that had been in place for a number of years.
The funding will help the hospital continue to operate their core services.
President and CEO Robert Biron says that the funding will allow them to continue to offer their services to residents close to home.
Biron says that the investment is important as the complexity of health care is not going to be going away anytime soon.
