The St. Thomas Police Service arrested a 37 year old Barrie man last night for impaired driving. Around 10:30 p.m. officers issued a traffic stop on Talbot Street and while speaking with the driver they detected the smell of alcohol. Officers then administered a roadside screening test that resulted in a fail reading.
The driver was taken into custody without incident and was transported to the police station for further testing. The further testing did revealed that the man had approximately 110 mgs of alcohol in his system. As a result, the 37 year old was charged with one count Operate Motor Vehicle – Blood Alcohol Concentration 80 Plus.
The man also received a 90 day drivers licence suspension and the vehicle was impounded where it will remain for 7 days.
