A woman living in an assisted living facility is facing an assault with a weapon charge after the St. Thomas Police say she cut a personal support worker with a knife on Tuesday night. The police report that the woman was agitated during the dinner service in the St. George Street facility and was yelling and throwing food in the dining room.
The woman allegedly cut a 52 year old employee with a dinner knife on the arm when they were attempting to calm the woman down. No medical attention was needed from the injury. The 21 year old accused had locked herself in her room when police arrived. She was brought into custody with the help of the police’s mental health crisis worker. She is now charged with one count of assault with a weapon.
