Southwestern Public Health is hosting a free family friendly flu clinic in St. Thomas later this month. The purpose of the clinic is to protect our youngest community members against the virus that primarily affects the nose, throat and lungs. The clinic is open to children 6 months to 5 years, along with their siblings and caregivers.
Medical Officer of Health at Southwestern Public Health Dr. Joyce Lock says the flu vaccine is important as many Canadians die from the virus every year.
Dr. Lock recommends that all children over the age of 6 months old receive the flu vaccine every year. Dr. Lock adds that in addition to the public health clinics, the flu vaccine is available at no cost from your family doctor or health care provider for anyone 6 months and older, as well as at participating pharmacies.
The clinic in St. Thomas will be taking place on Thursday, November 14th from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Southwestern Public Health building at 1230 Talbot Street.
