The St. Thomas Police Service laid 4 charges for impaired driving over the weekend. 2 Charges were laid on Friday, while the other 2 occurred on Saturday evening.
One of the incidents that took place on Saturday involved a 26 year old male who passed out at the wheel of his vehicle. Police report that 2 witnesses observed a vehicle fail to stop for a red light in the southwest end of the city before it eventually came to a stop in the middle of an intersection. The vehicle remained in the in the intersection until police arrived where they found the 26 year old London man passed out behind the wheel with his foot on the brake and the vehicle still in drive.
Officers blocked the vehicle in before waking the driver up, where he was then charged with Impaired Driving. Samples that were taken at the Police Station determined that the man was twice over the legal limit.
The male was held until he was sober and then released on a promise to appear in court.
