The St. Thomas-Elgin Christmas Care building is officially open for the holiday season. Christmas Care which is located in the Elgin Centre in the old Zellers entrance this year, will be spending the next couple of weeks preparing hampers for families in need this holiday season. Each hamper usually contains toys for the children along with a weeks worth of groceries, including a turkey or ham leading up to Christmas.
President of St. Thomas-Elgin Christmas Care Worth Chisholm says the community and volunteers really step up to help those in need during the holiday season.
Chisholm says they are celebrating 40 years as an originations and over those 40, no body in need went without because of the dedicated businesses and members of the community who donate hamper items.
Families who wish to register for a hamper or those who are looking to donate some toys or food for the hampers can drop into the Elgin Centre and speak with one of the volunteers.
