Sportsnet has cut ties with “Hockey Night in Canada” broadcaster Don Cherry. Sportsnet said in a statement on Monday (November 11) it is the right time for Cherry to immediately step down.
Sportsnet apologized yesterday for Cherry’s comments on “Coach’s Corner” on Saturday about his belief that new immigrants don’t wear poppies, and in turn, don’t support veterans.
myFM News took to the streets to get your reaction on the incident. Those we spoke to said that they thought Cherry’s comments were out of line.
Those we spoke to said that they felt that the company firing Cherry was the right thing to do. There’s no immediate word on who might replace Cherry on ”Coach’s Corner” or if it will continue in its current form without him. We asked you who you thought would be a good fit for his replacement.
Sportsnet is said to be considering options for the first intermission segment.
