A 21 year-old Chatham man has passed away as a result of a 2 vehicle collision on the Melbourne Road bridge over the Thames River north of Duff Line on Tuesday night (November 12). The OPP responded to the call around 6 p.m.
The OPP report that the collision occurred when a cargo van that was heading north over the bridge when contact was made with a southbound pickup truck.
The cargo van veered off of the road and rolled into a ditch.
Medical services responded and pronounced the driver of the cargo van, 21 year-old Trevor Wintjes of Chatham deceased.
The pickup truck driver did not suffer any injuries.
The OPP’s investigation into this collision is ongoing.
