Neighbouring police service’s have launched their Festive RIDE Campaign for the holiday season. The Elgin County OPP, Aylmer Police and St. Thomas Police will be increasing the number of RIDE checks until January 2nd.
Officers will be stopping vehicles and looking for any sign of impairment from alcohol or drug.
Elgin County OPP Media Relations Officer Adam Crewdson says that the partnerships between area police detachments help with public safety.
Crewdson says that the RIDE checks will be taking place at all hours both day and night as impaired driving happens 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
