The Children’s Grief Awareness flag is flying at City Hall in St. Thomas this week. Members of Hospice Outreach Programs of Elgin (HOPE Elgin) were at City Hall for the ceremony ahead of Thursday (November 21) which is Children’s Grief Awareness Day. The group is a part of a new national group called the Canadian Alliance for Grieving Children and Youth (CAGCY). The group is aimed at making sure that there is access to bereavement supports and that there is information for grieving children and their families.
The groups are also working to increase the awanessess for children and youth who are grieving and help to connect grief professionals across the country.
Thursday night HOPE Elgin will be hosting a “Lantern Parade of Hope” in Pinafore Park beginning at 6 p.m. and running until 8:30 p.m.
