St. Joseph’s Catholic High School in St. Thomas is hosting a “Skilled Trades Day” featuring close to 25 skilled trades representatives. The school wide day on Tuesday is featuring a morning and an afternoon session where students will hear a keynote speech in the gym and then work their way through classrooms hearing from local skilled trades workers.
The day was organized by the guidance department as they know that there is a shortage of skilled trades workers in Ontario.
Principal Jackie Campigotto says that the day will be a way for the students to know that there are options besides going to college or university.
Campigotto says that all of the representatives speaking are local and many of them even have a connection to St. Joes. The day is also timely as the students will be selecting their courses in February for next year.
