The Elm Street reconstruction project is expected to reopen to traffic by Friday afternoon. The phased project from Sunset Drive to First Ave began in April and consisted of the road being reconstructed both below and above ground.
The project also included the improvement and addition of sidewalks, left turn options, pedestrian crossings and a new turning signal at Meehan Street.
Senior Design Technologist Daniel Koppert says that they have been very pleased with the work of the contractor.
Koppert says that this project will greatly improve one of the major east – west arteries in the City. The road is planned to be reopened by 3 p.m. on Friday, weather permitting.
