The Catfish Creek Conservation Authority has issued a watershed conditions statement for the Lake Erie shoreline as well as a gale warning that will remain in effect until Thursday afternoon. The conservation authority says we can expect winds to increase to 18 km this evening and then to 28 km near midnight. Winds are expected to increase to 56 kms Wednesday morning, 65 kms by Wednesday around noon and then upwards of 83 km late in the afternoon before veering off in the evening.
Waves are expected to grow from 1 metre in height this afternoon to upwards of 4 meters by tomorrow. Municipal flood coordinators along the shoreline are asked to monitor the road conditions in the area.
Residents are also asked to closely watch local conditions and take appropriate responsible action, and are urged to use caution and stay away from Lake Erie shoreline areas experiencing strong wave action and elevated water levels.
