The St. Thomas McDonald’s restaurant has announced that they will be matching the first $10,000 in donations to the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital’s annual holiday appeal to donors. The restaurant will be matching all donations to the women and children’s services department up until January 1st of 2020.
The donation came from Owner of the local McDonald’s Gord MacLeod’s personal connection to the hospital and the restaurant’s want to give back to the community.
MacLeod says that one of the reasons for the donation is his personal connection to the hospital.
Executive Director of the STEGH Foundation Paul Jenkins says that the women and children’s services department is the hospital’s highest priority right now
Jenkins says that they are very thankful for the support of McDonald’s over the years and hopes that this announcement will motivate their donors to give this holiday season.
The funds will go to support the purchase of new equipment in the department such as birthday beds, stretchers, nursing call system, baby alarm system and more.
