With the holiday season upon us, you may now notice Salvation Army Christmas Kettles and volunteers when you are out doing your shopping. The Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Campaign kicked off on November 15th and will wrap up on Christmas Eve here in Elgin County.
This years goal for the local campaign is $150,000 that will go to support all of the work they do throughout the year for families in Elgin County. The kettles are set up at 10 locations throughout St. Thomas and Elgin County including Walmart, the Real Canadian Superstore, and new this year, Food Basics. Those looking to give back this holiday season can stop in at a participating location and make a donation to one of the kettles.
Community Ministries Officer Nyree Bond says they are very thankful for the community who supports them during the holiday season.
Bond says that they are always looking for more volunteers for the Kettle Campaign if anyone is able to spare a few hours throughout the day. Those wishing to volunteer can call the Salvation Army for more information.
