Elgin-Middlesex-London MP Karen Vecchio has been named the new Shadow Minister for Women and Gender Equality. Vecchio who has spent the past four years serving on the Status of Women Committee as both a Member and as the Chair will get to continue advocating for women throughout the Country.
Vecchio who previously worked as the Shadow Minister for Families, Children and Social Development says she will bring some of the knowledge she learned as well as the relationships she made being the shadow minister, into her new role.
Vecchio says that something that is very important to her with this new role is focusing on human trafficking throughout Canada.
Vecchio says she will also use her new title to advocate on behalf of women working in Science, Engineering, Technology and Math industries such as agriculture, oil and gas, and manufacturing as women continue to be underrepresented in these fields.
