A 60 year old St. Thomas man has been charged after striking a pedestrian with his vehicle. The incident occurred last night (Dec. 2) around 7:30 p.m. when a 49 year old woman crossing East Street was struck by the vehicle. The woman was walking along the north side of Talbot Street crossing to East Street when the vehicle turned onto East Street, hitting her. The woman was knocked to the ground as a result of the collision.
The 49 year old woman was transported to the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital by ambulance for treatment where it is report she suffered no life threatening injuries.
The 60 year old male driver has been charged with Failing to Yield to a Pedestrian under the Highway Traffic Act and has been given a fine of $180 and 3 demerit points.
