An alert citizen led the St. Thomas Police in the arrest of a man who they say stole from vehicles on Monday morning. The incident happened close to 7:30 a.m. when the caller allegedly witnessed the man attempt to open the door handles of vehicles that were parked along White Street.
Police responded and linked him to 4 different vehicle thefts including one where it’s alleged that Christmas gifts were stolen from the back seat of a vehicle in the driveway while the owner was unloading items into the home. The incidents took place on Erie Street, Second Ave and Elizabeth Street.
The 28 year old St. Thomas man is now facing 4 counts of theft under $5,000 and two counts of possession of stolen property.
He was released with a future court date.
