St. Thomas City Council has adopted the 2020 Capital and Operating budgets. 2020 will see a Capital budget of $39,992,038 and an Operating budget of $132,071,837. The capital budget will see a total of 49 projects completed next year. The biggest capital expenditure next year will be $10.5 million allocated for the complete streets. The City will also be spending $3.5 million in runway reconstruction.
The operating budget requires a $57,216,241 levy raised. This is a 4.44% increase from the 2019 levy.
The Fire Department’s operating budget will be increasing 4.38% this year to $6.9 million, while the Police Department’s budget is increasing 1.93% to $10.1 million.
