The St. Thomas Police are now answering and dispatching calls for service for the Aylmer Police. The new partnership between the St. Thomas Police Service and the Aylmer Police Service now has St. Thomas’ communications centre taking calls for the Aylmer police.
The Aylmer Police’s calls were answered by a call centre in Owen Sound that answered calls for 10 police services and 22 fire departments.
The police say that having the person answering the call be familiar with the area will help to enhance the safety of the public in both St. Thomas and Aylmer.
The partnership will result in no change in the way that the public can call the Aylmer Police as the non-emergency number has not changed and the front office hours have remain the same. The partnership began on December 16th.
