The St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital is receiving $1,231,883 in Provincial funding to maintain and update their infrastructure. Elgin-Middlesex-London MPP Jeff Yurek announced the Hospital Infrastructure Renewal Funding on Wednesday afternoon (December 18) at STEGH.
STEGH’s funding was also announced as part of the $10 million that is being allocated between STEGH, the London Health Sciences Centre and St. Joseph’s Health Care.
STEGH President and CEO Robert Biron says that the funding will allow them to complete 4 main projects.
Biron says that if this Provincial funding was not available they would have to increase their capital costs which could result in re-prioritizing of the work which could extend the timeliness for the projects to be completed.
The $1.2 million is similar to the amount that STEGH receives through the fund each year.
Funding allocations:
STEGH: $1,231,883
St. Joseph’s Health Care: $2,096,587
London Health Sciences Centre: $6,687,878
