The St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital Foundation is looking back on 2019 in what was a very successful year for them. The foundation reached new heights with their signature black tie gala which raised $120,000 and celebrated donations of all shapes and sizes from a variety of individuals and community organizations.
The foundation was also proud that STEGH became an accredited breast assessment centre this year as their donors played a role in equipping the department with 2 mammography units.
Executive Director Paul Jenkins says that the accreditation was exciting for a number of reasons.
Jenkins says that in 2020 he’s hopeful that the foundation will get the approval to begin fundraising to bring an MRI to the hospital as STEGH is the largest community of its size without one.
