The Catfish Creek Conservation Authority has issued a watershed condition statement for the Lake Erie shoreline. The conservation authority says we can expect winds to increase to 37 km this evening and then to 55.6 km overnight. Winds are expected to diminish to 37 km near noon on Wednesday and then to 18.5km by Wednesday evening before veering off.
Waves are expected to grow to 2 metres in height this afternoon to upwards of 3 meters by Wednesday morning. Municipal flood coordinators along the shoreline are asked to monitor the road conditions in the area.
Residents are also asked to closely watch local conditions and take appropriate responsible action, and are urged to use caution and stay away from the Lake Erie shoreline areas experiencing strong wave action and elevated water levels.
This Watershed Condition Statement will remain in effect until noon on Thursday January 9th.
