Police are reminding drivers to plan ahead when it comes to getting home after a night out. This comes after the release of the numbers for their Festive RIDE Program.
The Elgin County OPP conducted 93 spot checks on January 2nd. This resulted in 8 drivers being charged with impaired and 3 that were handed roadside suspensions for being in the warning range.
Over the course of the year, officers charged 74 drivers with being over the legal limit, while 33 roadside suspensions were also issued.
Police encourage your first decision of your night out to be about how you will get home. The OPP say they will continue their enforcement of impaired driving throughout Elgin County, but the motoring public has to do their part as well.
