With significant rainfall expected over the coming days, the Kettle Creek Conservation Authority warns of potential localized flooding. Weather forecasts are currently predicting a combined potential of up to 70-90 millimeters of rain starting late this (Thursday) evening and ending late on Saturday. Saturday is expected to bring the bulk of the rain, while freezing rain and snow are also possible.
The KCCA is monitoring the forecast closely and say that bank full conditions may be reached if the lower forecasted rain events are realized. If the higher forecasted volumes are reached over a short period of time there is a chance that flooding could occur in low lying areas throughout the watershed.
The KCCA is reminding residents along the Lake Erie Shoreline, in particular, those in the Village of Port Stanley, to be mindful of the conditions and to take extreme caution around all waterways as water levels are expected to remain high over the next several days.
The flood outlook by the KCCA is in effect until 12pm Monday (Jan 13th), you can follow their updates on Twitter and Facebook @KettleCreekCA.
