Students in Elgin County that attend an elementary school within the Thames Valley District School Board will not be receiving their first term report cards. The TVDSB made the announcement today (Jan 23), that as a result of the ongoing strike action by the Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario, (ETFO) that elementary student report cards will not be issued at this time.
The board says that they understand the value of report cards to students, parents and guardians, however ETFO members are not able to complete Kindergarten Communication of Learning or Term 1 Report Cards for Grades 1-8.
When the work to rule campaign was initially launched in November, the ETFO said teachers would not fill out report cards, but would send marks to administration.
The TVDSB have said that they recognize the current labour situation poses challenges for students and families, but remind parents and guardians that they can contact their student’s teachers directly to discuss their current progress.
