Today myFM is celebrating local coaches and the impact they’ve had on athletes in Elgin County with our Hooray for Coaches Day feature, presented by Briwood Farm Market.
We spoke with Jacqueline Reichenbach who is a dance teacher and studio owner at Step Above Dance. Reichenbach has been teaching for well over 21 years and says she has always known that she wanted to be a dance teacher.
Reichenbach says one of the most rewarding parts of the job is seeing a student who has been struggling with a certain step, final get it after a few weeks of practice.
But with any job comes some challenges and she says continuing to create new ways of teaching the same thing is something that stand out as a challenge for her.
Reichenbach’s advice for those wanting to become a dance teacher is to do as much as you can as a dancer while you’re young but encourages anyone who is interested in teaching to give it a try.
