The St. Thomas Police have made their 3rd Impaired by Drug arrest this week following a collision that took place around 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Officers were called to the intersection of Axford Parkway and Fairview Avenue after reports of a vehicle that collided with the back of another vehicle stopped at a stop sign.
Witnesses at the scene say that the driver then reversed and drove into the back of the stopped vehicle a second time. When officers arrived on scene they issued a Field Sobriety Test that resulted in a fail reading. The driver was then transported to the police station for further testing.
As a result the 31 year Sparta man has been charged with one count Operation While Impaired by Drug and was later released on a Promise to Appear in court. His vehicle was towed from the scene and impounded for seven days. No injuries were reported as a result of the collision.
