Representatives from the St. Thomas Police Service, local businesses, organizations and the community will be making the jump into freezing cold water for the first ever Polar Plunge St. Thomas. The Polar Plunge, which takes place in many communities throughout Ontario is a fundraiser for Special Olympics Ontario.
Participants will raise money through pledges before they make the plunge into the giant bin of icy cold water that will be set up. The St. Thomas event will be taking place at the Fanshawe College – St. Thomas/Elgin Regional Campus on March 10th, with plunges happening at 12:30 p.m. and 3 p.m.
Sean James with the St. Thomas Police Service says they are excited to bring this event to the city and support an organization close to their hearts.
James says that the police force works very closely with Special Olympics Ontario through the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run and this is just another way that the service can support our local athletes who inspire them everyday.
