March is fraud prevention month, and the Ontario Provincial Police want to make sure everyone is wary of scams.
Detective Sergeant Ted Schendera says fraud is something that’s reported every day across our country.
Schendera says that the OPP work closely with the Canadian Anti Fraud Centre to help victims of fraud, and prevent more people from falling for scams.
This month, police will focus on spear phishing, romance scams, extortion and service scams as in the last year alone, Canadians have been defrauded over 97-million dollars.
