It is not anticipated St. Thomas will have to declare an emergency as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. That was the message from city manager Wendell Graves to members of council prior to last night’s (Monday) meeting.
He was updating council on the city’s balanced approach plan unveiled Sunday that will keep city hall open while shutting down recreational facilities, including the library and the St. Thomas Seniors’ Centre. Graves described the first day of the strategy at city hall as – quote – “positive.”
Stressing city staff and council are not the health professionals, Graves directed residents to the COVID-19 update page on the city website. He advised it is as a key source for residents and businesses.
Those needing to attend city hall are being directed to the rear door where staff will meet you and, in the majority of cases, deliver what you need without having to go further into the building.
