Should you be taking extra precautions during this COVID-19 pandemic when putting out garbage and recyclables for curbside pickup? Michelle Shannon, Waste Management Coordinator at the City of St. Thomas urges residents not to throw used tissues and other loose garbage into metal or plastic garbage bins for pickup.
She reminds residents the city’s contracted waste collectors have expressed concerns about loose items which they pick up if they fall out of the bins.
And, in an effort to maintain business as usual, Shannon advises the St. Thomas Community Recycling Centre will remain open for use by residents.
The centre at 330 South Edgeware Road is open Tuesday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
