Elgin county has reported its third confirmed case of COVID-19 in four days. Southwestern Public Health advises an Elgin man in his eighties was admitted to St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital yesterday (Wednesday) when he contracted the virus after travelling.
Earlier Wednesday, a female Elgin county resident in her 30s was confirmed and she is self-isolating at home.
The initial case in Elgin was reported Sunday and that male in his 30’s has since been hospitalized.
As of Thursday afternoon, Southwestern Public Health had undertaken 254 tests in St. Thomas and Oxford and Elgin counties. Of that number, four are confirmed cases and there are 26 probable cases.
A total of 147 tests have proven negative and the results from 103 are pending.
