Admitting at times he feels a little bit handcuffed as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic Sean Dyke, St. Thomas Economic Development Corporation CEO, says many of the larger essential businesses in St. Thomas and Elgin county are managing to continue with operations.
He says the EDC is looking beyond its borders for creative ideas. It’s an effort to assist small business owners who aren’t supported by any government programs.
In particular, Dyke worries about the financial health of small businesses in St. Thomas and Elgin.
He says the EDC is looking toward recovery when closures due to the COVID-19 pandemic are no longer a factor, but admits he is not sure there is a solid plan in place just yet.
On a positive note, Dyke confirms the EDC is still getting inquiries about industrial land from companies looking to grow.
