Ontario is taking emergency action to deal with a spike in domestic violence reported by victims services organizations during the COVID-19 crisis. Victim Services Elgin is a recipient of $25,750 in one-time funding to deal with the challenges it faces in St. Thomas and Elgin county. Executive director Natalie Redman explains what the money can be used for.
Redman notes with self-isolation she anticipates an increased demand for their services and resources.
Elgin-Middlesex-London MPP Jeff Yurek says the emergency payment will ensure victims of crime and domestic violence will continue to get the help they need to stay safe and healthy during coronavirus outbreak.
