Over the past 2 days, Southwestern Public Health has announced a total of 5 new confirmed COVID-19 cases in St. Thomas and Elgin County. Following the change of how they announce new cases in the region, the health unit now reports a total of 12 active case in St. Thomas and Elgin County. 2 of the new cases are reported in Dutton Dunwich, with the other 3 reported in St. Thomas. In total there are now 5 cases in Dutton Dunwich, 2 in Central Elgin, 1 in Aylmer and 4 in St. Thomas.
As of Thursday (April 9) afternoon the website shows that SWPH has administered 642 tests with 460 negative results, 155 still pending, 5 resolved cases and 2 deaths, both in Elgin County.
Ontario is now reporting 200 deaths from COVID-19, an increase of 26 people in the past day. There have been 483 new confirmed cases since Wednesday, with a provincial total of 5,759. More than 2,300 cases have been resolved, which is 40 percent of Ontario’s total COVID-19 confirmed cases.
