Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Elgin County is continuing to see the cancellation of events well into the summer months. Among these is the cancellation of the 2020 St. Thomas Airfest that was set to take place in June. The cancellation comes at the guidance of federal, provincial and local health officials who are looking to mitigate health risks in relation to COVID-19.
Airfest will return to St. Thomas next year from June 25th to 27th and tickets which have already been purchased for this years event will be honored for the rescheduled date in 2021.
In addition, two well known events throughout Elgin County will also be taking the year off. The Shedden Tractor Pull and the Rosy Rhubarb Festival both set to take place in June of this year, have been canceled.
They both announced that it was an unfortunate decision that had to be made to protect the safety of the community.
