Fanshawe College wants to make sure their students are supported during the COVID-19 pandemic. The school announced that they have created the Student Emergency Fund thanks to the support of donors and the Fanshawe Student Union.
The fund is meant to assist current students who are experiencing unforeseen financial challenges and will provide short-term support for financially vulnerable students.
Starting today, Fanshawe students will be able to apply to access the $1.5-million emergency fund. Students will be able to receive up to $500 in financial assistance and funds will be distributed on a first-received basis to students in greatest need.
The school says that as additional funds are raised, they will be continuing to release funds to help as many students as possible.
Fanshawe College notes that although the fund was launched today, they are currently having technical issues with the application form and will have it available as soon as possible.
