Southwestern Public Health has reported their 3rd death as a result of COVID-19. The deceased was a male in his 90’s who resided in Elgin County before passing away in hospital. Over the long weekend we also saw 4 new cases in the area, 2 in St. Thomas, 1 in West Elgin, and 1 in Southwold.
In total there are 15 confirmed cases in St. Thomas and Elgin County with 5 cases in Dutton Dunwich, 1 in Central Elgin, 1 in Aylmer, 1 in West Elgin, 1 in Southwold and 6 in St. Thomas.
As of Monday (April 13) afternoon the website shows that SWPH has administered 794 tests with 527 negative results, 232 still pending, 6 resolved cases and 3 deaths, all in Elgin County.
Ontario is reporting 421 new COVID-19 cases today and 17 new deaths. That brings the province to a total of 7,470 cases, including 291 deaths and 3,357 that have been resolved.
It’s an increase of six per cent over Sunday’s total number of cases, continuing a relatively low growth rate of the past several days. The number of patients in hospital (760) rose slightly, but rates of patients in intensive care and on ventilators remained relatively stable.
