With online learning continuing in Ontario for at least the next month, the STEAM Centre is looking to help out those who may be lacking a good working computer. Through their re//BUILD.IT program, STEAM is offering free refurbished desktop computers to students in need of a home computer.
Although the program is usually used to teach teens how to rebuild a computer, STEAM has been refurbishing computers for the community while they are closed at this time due to COVID-19.
Executive Director Jessica Gransaull says they are doing their part to make sure that all students have a level playing field when it comes to working from home.
Gransaull says all families have to do to get one of these computers is email info@steameducation.ca and the centre will then coordinate with them.
In addition to offering computers to those who need them, the STEAM Centre has also been donating 3D printer filament to those who are working to create mask clips in the community.
