Front-line healthcare workers have been in the spotlight throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, and this week nurses in particular are being celebrated.
May 11th to 17th is Nurses Week, when registered nurses and nurse practitioners are recognized for the quality care they provide for their patients, clients and long-term care residents.
Karen Davies, Vice President and Chief Nursing Executive at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital explains the history of Nurses Week.
This is the 200th anniversary of the birth of Nightingale and Davies says the hospital has plenty on tap throughout the week to honour the work of nurses, especially during the pandemic.
