St. Thomas and Elgin County are continuing to flatten the COVID-19 curve. As of Tuesday (May 19), Southwestern Public Health reports just 2 active cases in the area, 1 being in St. Thomas and the other in Malahide.
As numbers continue to go down in the region, SWPH has updated their website to give totals of past active cases. Since the pandemic first began, St. Thomas and Elgin County has seen 33 confirmed cases, with 4 deaths.
In the Southwestern Public Health coverage area, 3,543 people have been tested as of Tuesday, with 3,298 negative results and 180 pending. A total of 56 cases have now been resolved.
Today Ontario reported its largest growth rate of COVID-19 cases in a week and a half this morning, with an increase of 1.9 per cent over yesterday.
There are 427 new cases and 15 more deaths in the province. That brings the totals to 23-thousand-384 cases, one-thousand-919 deaths and 17-thousand-898 cases that have been resolved.
