Will this be the summer we can enjoy sidewalk patios at restaurants in the downtown core?
In a partnership between the city and the Downtown Development Board the plan is to have temporary patios on the sidewalk in front of various eating establishments with a protected, bump-out sidewalk placed in the parking space.
DDB chairman Earl Taylor says they are getting the paperwork ready now in anticipation of easing COVID-19 restrictions.
Taylor says everything has been approved by the city at this stage and it is just a matter of renting the bump-out structures.
Taylor says the structures will be rented from a firm in Hamilton and will be fully wheelchair accessible.
